I take little pieces Of everyone I meet And somehow sew them into me Like a shadow to my feet.
I keep it for a little while Wrap it up in an embrace And try to see if it feels right Or falls onto its face.
I can't quite say that I'm myself As I'm everyone I know. Snippets here and snippets there- And this is how I grow.
Like an endless puzzle It always takes a bit To figure out if they are good And if they'll ever fit.
I take little pieces Of everyone I meet And somehow sew them into me Like a shadow to my feet.
Note: I haven't done a rhyming poem in a while. Forgive me?

What a creative write! I loved it!
We are the sum total of our experiences and indeed, little bits of the people who influence our lives. This was delightful in content ~ and form!

KoKo, this is a beautiful poem, with perfect rhyme. It's very true, too.... we are bits and pieces of everyone who has been in our lives. Happy Holiday With Love,

so creative yet, so true... When I meet other people I always weigh out their good and bad then look at myself to see if I have the good or bad qualities... that way I can see my faults, and make myself better. Much the same... I like this, very well done
Always, AlyssaHe was a man of sorrows ...I am a girl of tears.

Very nice poem. How right you are, and how very enlightened to see that we are all made up of puzzle pieces of our life's experiences.

Great poem, this is exactly how I feel. What makes me wonder is do we have a snippet that is truly our own? enjoyed

Great philosophy. I've heard it said that the only differences in us from year to year are the books we read and the people we meet.
