How could it be that I am here?
Fond of skylines, and wrinkled leaves
Another day like this, not so very long ago
A smile came across my lips at every sound you made
The truth? That I have never been so sentimental
Yet I can trace the sparkle in your eyes from any destination
And something says that I have held the best of records
Leaning into what has been part dream, part magic
You cannot hide the tension in your body
My senses tap the tunes on currents only I can hear
And you…
You have heard it too
A thready pulse of courage at the edges of desire
Though you cringe to keep away the fire
And even you cannot understand
We were sent to be together…walking farther
Sport in heather fair, you hide and seek
I tried to peek, and found my eyes were blessed
Seeing only golden shadows, less the rest
And I knew that I was taken
And I see my courage shaken when you go
Yet my skin still shines the buff of times
We touched
And if I traced each contact point
Within my dreams to be conjoint
Your full form would glow upon me
Except your smile…
For that resides within
