Blazing Blue Black A young girl of fifteen, her fiery red hair flying in the wind, racing across a quiet meadow of green. Her horse glistening in the warm summer sun, the color of blazing blue black. She dreams of a boy who lives down in the Valley of Rivers. She smiles as a vision of his mischievous brown eyes and sparkling smile appear before her smiling laughing eyes. She will marry this boy next year, when she is of the age of sixteen. A young woman the age of thirty-one, gazing out into the star filled night. Five children fast asleep, one crying softly, this young woman unable to ease the child’s pain. The boy of her dreams now a man, encircles her in his embrace, trying to ease the burning fear. Four children fast asleep, one crying softly, this young woman screams in terror as one is turning the color of blue. An older woman the age of sixty- one, sitting on a hospital bed. Her first heart attack, eyes filled with fear, a new husband who does not care or who will share her tears. Her three children at her side, assuring her that everything will be all right. As her life continues down life’s road three more heart attacks she does receive. One child saying, everything will be all right mama, everything will be all right. An old woman of seventy, playing and chasing a grandchild around the the yard of happiness. She laughs and thinks how life has been good to her. This woman of seventy-five, begins to shuffle and forget. This lovely woman at the age of eighty one- Her memory gone unable to walk lying in a hospital bed. As she closes her eyes in eternal sleep. Her tired body goes back in time. To a time when she was a young girl of fifteen, her fiery red hair flying in the wind, racing across a quiet meadow of green- Flying on her beautiful horse the color of blazing blue black. i loved it. i hardly ever see a narrative as heartwarming as that one. it reminds me that we all grow old, and were young once. Of course I'm still young! yay. but in all seriousness a great write. Meg tragedy is cutting your finger. comedy is falling into an open sewer and dying. |
