Traveler Midst the bolstering crowd Lies an island A calm reprieve from the madhouse Of screeching tires, and gossiping voices A tiny corner of paradise Tucked snugly between 1st and 2nd avenue It’s front, Nothing special. Three short steps up, to an old wooden door cast iron rail framing either side, and on the left, the small hand-painted sign It is no wonder many pass it by. Yet beyond that simple door, Stretches a universe I have scarcely begun to explore. I step in now, leaving the hum-drum of the world behind. Ahhh, The refreshing stillness hits me, Laced through with the musty scent of thousands of years of history, As it mingles with the freshness of new discoveries I slink further into the building's depths, Diving deeper amongst the shelves as they tower above me Here amongst the written words of those who have gone before, I pause, Eyes sliding down an elegant spine Hand reaching to gently pull it from its place, The book falls open, Words jumping out at me from the page A new adventure begins. |

This reminds me of a traveler that once spent time in the Astro Motel, alas, soon to spend time elsewhere. Nicely done |

hmmm . . . seems to me as this new life you speak of is a . . . reincarnation of sorts? *smile* [This message has been edited by littlewing (11-23-2003 05:43 PM).] |
