The rose opens and emits its scent
life passes by...wonder where it went
have plans one day to become filthy rich
see money squandered, dumped in a ditch...

Live in my own place, call it a house
scratch my head clean of an imaginary louse
life passes for the rose, and its prickly thorns
another new day's announced though a rams horn...

Call me a spendthrift, vagabond of sorts
you'll be my minstrel, friend and cohort
to tiptoe among the rose beds in early spring
as crimson buds peek through leafy triads
...strange what life brings.

It brings the rose and its perfumy scent
causes people to wander, and wonder how life was spent;
have plans for a rickety stead upon a hill
put my fortune in roses on the window sill.

I would gladly spend my fortune for roses on the windowsill if I had a fortune. Lovely thought.

It matters not from where the perfume comes, window sill, pretty hill, boxes made for plumbs...
The point is...Bravo.

Hey Kathleen,

I knew you wouldn't take this scenario for being literal..it's as figurative as my art is

Unique and lovely -- hope you get your place and roses in the garden if not on the window sill -- wishing you a happy new year!
