If I have been impatient with you, and didn’t know that the words I threw at you thudded like stones against your head I am sorry. But know that I did come to you late at night while you were sleeping and squeeze you tightly. If I didn’t provide the wings and rejoice with you as you soared towards your dreams I was mistaken The sky should have been your home But know that you soar over me always. If I didn’t cradle you in my arms as you cried and let you know that whatever tears life rained upon us We would overcome them together I am ashamed But know that I would crawl through the fiercest storms to shield you. If there have been times we have been together yet you have felt alone and lost Then I am hopeless and stranded. But I will search for you always. If I never told you that I would forsake all the tomorrows without you just to spend one day with you Then I am miserable But know that I have no desire to drink from tomorrows cup if you are not there to taste it with me. If I have pushed you away and caused you to leave I am searching But know that although I cannot gaze upon you, you have never left me. Your shadow nestles always within my bones. |
