Amaryllis and other Seeds A hesitation in the most simple sentence will send a mind, reeling a card or note, or simple gift will send a heart, feeling. I wonder of a plant’s origin did it come by hand, or bird? Did it fall or was it planted? By what mystery was life incurred? I wish I had the heart of art, for I study limbs in search they scratch the sky, then lift the leaf, somehow I know there’s this belief that if I were given days and days, every branch would bear my gaze. What magic. What chemistry and mix of soil, blend of tear and certain toil, let the skies bear forth their beams, and only plant in dark of dream ~ and here for me, from daddy’s hand, an amaryllis seed saved for me. Though years have passed, could it grow? I hesitate, but still, would know. Will the tendril shoot the earth? Will a root find foot in birth? In his writing, in penciled cursive directions to give this seed to live ~ several seeds, giving promise this yellowing envelope, sealed with a kiss. You see, this Amaryllis was given by me to him one year, that a birthday he’d see, for sick he was, and yet my greed that he would live, was planted by seed, a letter written, a heartfelt compel to live for his children, and grandchildren as well so he fought, and fought some more, and bought some time, then years he scored how often does a man receive a gift of flowers; a love, relieved? Years have passed, I miss him so, perhaps its time to see if these seeds might grow soak in water, then shallow earth moisten well, and watch rebirth mayhap I’ll try one or two, and if they fail, still, hope renews, for a gift to him, he gave back to me. I guess these thoughts are love’s poetry. |

"soak in water, then shallow earth moisten well, and watch rebirth" -they sound like magic words, but then again, they are! |

Jeez Karilea you have touched me yet again. this is really beautiful. M Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder. |

perhaps its time to see if these seeds might grow For in this process memories grow you know? Ah, but a beautiful tribute to your Father, and if indeed there are seeds, give it a shot! |

I enjoyed every single word of this, dear Karilea. And I am sure your Father's essence received the love that you distillated here. I would try with the seeds, yes. So very beautiful, wise and tender. Love, Margherita |
