I'll cry later
A tear duct draining deluge
Will gush forth unchecked
Through shattered dam
Until my heart shrivels to nothing
In its bath of brine

But not now

Though this moment's the when
Unshed tears trickle
Down my throat - acid rain
Falling only inside
As my soul pleads
For later to arrive.

Oh goodness, suthern, this made a lump come in my throat.
Sometimes the tears bring needed release. It hurts
so bad to need to cry and not be able too.
Heart hugs, my friend

..."acid rain"...i like that analogy

..like tears that are held  are eroding the soul..

...it aches to read this..

....I don't know what to say except that it's great...

There's a crack inside this heart
Something that will never be healed ,
I can't give anything to anyone
Cause this whole will never be filled !!

Probably a fool's errand to try, but I wish I could cheer you up, wave my magic wand over you and make it better.... Sometimes things aren't as bad as you think they are, and I hope this is one of those times.

Meanwhile, I'll just say this poem truly moved me, Laura. Happy or sad, you are good!

I know this moment. I know this promise. Well done-you bring it back with all the feelings.  You don't oversell it or understate it.

A tear duct draining deluge
============================

you knew you had me with that line...

you just poetically defined bleeding out ones eyes.

Painfully poignant write poetess Ruthie..
I would wish that you/we can make a new promise to write a happy ending..but I know its just not that easy.

not to be brought to his knees by the beauty of the sky and sea

(big angel hugs) This is so deeply heartfelt, dearest friend, don't keep the tears in too long as that can only enhance the sores, God Bless You, let it out softly, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Suthern, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
