The Serenity of My Soul |

I have no desire or aspiration Neither esoteric urges nor inspiring inclinations As tranquility in the night creeps shrilly Into stone-like statues of peaceful solemnity I have no ambition or allurement Charming me into clever confusion Invigorating seclusion and Repealing societal involvement All is well as silence reigns supreme And sheltered stillness sifts my soul Separating the chaff of life’s pressures From the serenity of my soul |

I don't know why this poem hasn't been commented on yet. A very marvelous write. Eloquent, but not cluttered. |

LiquidMidnight, thank you for the kind compliment Iliana and Michelle, it is indeed a good place to be…to be able to stay there…another story Jaicie, I appreciate your wonderful words Charisma, thanks for reading this long after it was posted Marge, perhaps the melody comes from a soul in tune with itself Nightshade, I am glad you like that line—it was my favorite, too Gentle Spirit, perhaps the familiarity comes from the tranquility for which we all yearn for and then appreciate when we find it Sunshine, the inspiration for this stems from a momentous decision that will shortly take place in my life. I need to want the outcome of that decision to be passionately clear in one direction, while all the time choosing to remain aloof as to its outcome. I need to want it desperately without desiring it greatly. The serenity I find within is the only way I can deal with what may be…for I know that whatever comes, it will be for good. Passing shadows, I have never seen a lack of energy in any of your writing…it is always powerful. Thanks for reading and commenting. |
