A Winter Spice

there they stand,
hover may be more exact,
sand-colored strands
of wild grasses
with fuzzy, golden heads

still stretched as tall
as able
giving the slightest gentle flutter
in the tiniest of breeze

they are poised
above inches of snow
yet appear untouched
by its cold
its weight
its attempt to encapsulate

a fascinating contrast
to the pristine white
the purity of an unwritten page
they are as sage
to this winter scene

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Very nicely penned picture.
You captured the magic of a detail.

Virginia, first, I must say, the title took me in; second, you need to know this is going in my library.  Third, and not at all important but only to me, is that I wanted to believe whole-heartedly you wrote it FOR me....

so, it is now tucked onto your own shelf.

Kudos, m'dear.  It is one of your best.
