The Shine I saw the shine as I dug deeper When I took a chance, I realized the truth You went under my skin and tickled me plenty There was a moment of healing in your power to soothe Through the sleepless nights and drowning rain A person concealed was shown to be real Through the bittersweet and gnawing pain I was allowed the liberty to feel I don't understand how the barrier was caused When I stopped being vain, I made it in You zig to a zag that only brings light There is now a chance for the next of kin Through the hopeless moods and smothering smoke A need repressed was filled on call Through the ugliness and lies that choke A hand was extended to lift me from my fall |

If what you are writing about is real - been there. My problem was every woman I knew wanted a life, I didn't start to think about wanting a life until I was 28 and fought for the next 10 years to avoid it. On the poem: Words are very incisive, wolf tongued. If this was a party: Round about this time people started getting out Leonard Cohen and commenting on one track someone said "it makes you pleased you got the razor - cut rate". Dave |
