Her upper lengths
now rest under the layers of ice
snow drifted scenes painted
delicate whites
make her impassable
and I ply only as far north
as St Louis
calling marks on bend
still dreaming of a time
when summer
         doesn't end.

Bitter this wind
   that through bare trees
calls the names of Norse gods
and their cold hearts
as we take her north
pushing a line of three
and I
       remember that dress

Your eyes a sparkle
    like sun on rippled wake
to dance across my mind
with me wishing for arms
warmer than those
           of January
to wrap around me as I stand
face front
              calling
"Mark 3"
            on watch
for ice.

Dream again that
Come the sun
        I'll see your outline
through the dress
       wishing
to lie in the heated wrap of you

"Steady Slow" the engine call
    I return to the water
and Winter's threat
to snow.

This morning theres a calm I cant explain
By the time I recognize this moment it will be gone,
I will bend light pretending it lingers on

Smiling with you.  Konrad had a similar write - or at least, there are certain sounds of the same Mark.

Well done, Sir.

Welcome home.

Ron...Very beautiful, and filled with that special way you have of making nature dance with emotion.

Still trying to see through the girls dresses?  lol...

The ice can be avoided if you get out of the water...

But I am selfish and want the writing to continue...
