Retreating

A gnawing sense of retreat
stretches its protective shield
of backwards glance
through the muck of yesterday.

An accident, that's what you were,
dented my being, jarred my senses,
testing me, my memory too short,
my heart too open, simple truths
reflection-blocked, a foggy mirror
preventing the shadow to walk through,
grasp hold and shake me
out of my illusions.

The moments are filtered,
for the thirst to drink you in
suppresses the point at which
reality becomes clear and
the memory becomes revised...
the beyond, still a wait away.

So much for a new year.

M

I find that reality is not half a fun as the illusion....May this new year grant you an illusion that fills your heart and soul with the reality you desire....**hug**
