Thanksgiving - a Dutchie's fantasy |

Don't know the feeling of Thanksgiving There's no Thanksgiving where I am living I can imagine though what it should be Thus read the fantasy of Dutchie me I'll heat up the stove on Thanksgiving day When you feel lonely, just come my way Come by plane, train, boat or car Just come my way, it isn't that far I'll have my family gathered around But room for more will always be found When you come in, I'll hug you tight And you can stay all through the night We'll have dinner, a sheep no doubt I don't have turkeys hopping about I know, I know, it should be that bird But it's the thought that counts, I've heard We'll tell stories while sipping wine And I'll make sure you're feeling fine Then we'll stumble up the stairs Laughing out loud, but hell, who cares And when you're ready to leave next morn (Don't count on feeling completely 'reborn') We'll say 'Goodbye' and 'Till next year' And I will shed some tears I fear That's my fantasy about Thanksgiving There's no Thanksgiving where I am living But...in my mind I could pretend That my fantasy comes true my friend Happy Holidays to all of you  Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

Icequeen, we've a load of homemade wine, so that shouldn't be a problem. Duncan, you're more than welcome and I love cornbread and well, let's see who we could roast.....I still have Balladeer Hello Chris, coming Spring there certainly will be lambs again. Midnitesun, the more the better, tofu turkey?? Dunc, would you settle for some chicken roast? Marge, my dearest friend, if I could I would hop over to celebrate Thanksgiving with you and your family. You would roast BALLADEER!?!?!?! I know you don't have turkey In that undeveloped land But roasting sheep for that day Is too much for me to stand!  Although sheep have four drumsticks Wouldn't they be hard to chew? If someone says, "What are you having?" I'm not saying EWE!!!  All the parts I love I'd find Not easy to digest. There's nothing tasty in my mind About a mutton breast! Thank God thanksgiving isn't there In that land of the Dutch. Sheep and dumplings on my plate Would be a little much!!!! Balladeer , LOL I know that message would get you out of your hiding place. You've been hiding from us too long Deer. So glad to see you again and I love your little rhyme.How can you say we don't have turkeys When you have never visited my land I can tell you my sister has several Hopping about and eating out of her hand How can you say we don't have turkeys Well, not as much as we used to before Black head disease was roaming this country But there are some left for us to adore How can you say we don't have turkeys Most eat them at Christmas, stuffed as well You should come visit me Balladeer I'll show you around and then you can tell Just take a plain, a train, boat or car Come visit me Deer, it isn't that far Make this Dutchie's fantasy come true And I'll cook turkey, specially for you And of course I wouldn't dare roast Balladeer! Not yet anyway Marge, you got that right, I always love Deer's witty poems. Marti, yes Prague is far away from me, at least two, maybe three days by car. I've never been there, but it's a beautiful city I've heard. James, don't even know what I'm going to eat LOL, nowadays my hubby is the cook.
