A time comes in every persons life when they hit the crossroads of adult and child and you realize that you must move out and move on alone, my time is coming up and though just as excited as the next person I'm going to miss here terribly.

How I’m going to miss this place
Everything here is all that I know
All familiar and reassuringly safe
The fat black cat stalking through the field
Acting just like the panther he’s named after
The lovely willow tree, my favorite
Standing at least 20 feet tall now
Though when we bought it only three
And the awesome vine on the side of the garden shed
What it is I couldn’t say but breathtaking none the less
Oh yes how I will miss it
The distant call of crickets and birds
In a sweet blissful melody
The apple trees in the front
the last apple finally fallen off, seasons last fruit
And who could forget the bush tree
Or the purple lilac that is taller than the house?
All will be missed terribly
Especially the house, the old 1929 farm house
Where endless days were spent reading by the fire
Where little girls dreams came true
And where countless cooking disasters were made
How do I leave all this behind?
The sky never looks as blue, anywhere as here
The sun never so radiant, the smells never so potent
All so homey and real
How do I say goodbye?
How do I leave knowing that all my dreams
And childhood schemes were made the very spot I sit?
How do I let go of it all and still retain the memories
Of warm summer days and cold winter nights
Of first fallen leaves in the fall and first roses in the spring
Of first scraped knees and broken hearts
Yes, it will be hard to let my home go
And my childhood with it
And both will be sorely missed

Because of you I laugh a little harder, smile a little more, and cry a little less

B.

This IS how you leave and yet don't leave.
I return to many places left long ago.
The more often your pen goes back, the more often you CAN go back.
Enjoy the trips!

This is very poignant, and beautifully written, too.  The house wil always be with you.

Bella...

I think Krawdad said it all...with such wondrous and deep images stored in your soul, you will never truly leave. Life is about change and growth...sometimes whether we want it or not. Just relax knowing that you have such miraculous memories that can always be visited to warm your heart. Thank you for this beautiful write...and, good luck in your new memory-making adventures.

Love and Light...jc

Hello Bella

Thank you so much for taking me on a wonderful journey.  I could almost smell that beautiful lilac tree (one of my favourite smells).  Your heart will never leave the home you grew up in and your heart will only keep growing fonder as the years pass.  Hold tightly to your memories for they will always be with you.

Take care........Sue

Bela- you will never forget these things -- take it from one who knows.  You described perfectly my transition of moving away from home -- we, too, lived in a very old farmhouse with a tall lilac bush, etc., etc....   But, tho you won't forget, there are many more memories to make, yes?!

Bella, this is a very beautiful poem, with a
touch of sadness felt in it. But, sweetie, you have
all these wonderful memories stored in your
memory bank.....treasure them and take care of them,
because they are precious. You can always return
to them whenever you need to.
Hugs
Ethel
