Peering In

Between you and I a space exists,
a void deep as the dark the night breathes in –
I think we should leave it there,
let any love that may remain
fall into it’s depths.

We should open our souls,
let the pain flow down it’s sides,
cleanse ourselves,
purge . . . ourselves . . .
of the other.

But we’re not that smart,
at least not I . . .

Instead  I’ll cry dry-eyed tears
because there are no more,
you’ve coaxed them all
from whence they came . . .
there are no more.

Between you and I,
a space exists,
and I linger on it’s edge,
peering in . . .
longing for an end,
wanting to fall . . .
to fall . . .
to fall, to oblivion

Between you and I a space exists,
and I sit on it’s abysmal edge,
watching it grow
till you’re all but lost to sight.

I sit on it’s edge . . .
peering in . . .
peering in . . .

Well that is some eggnog!  I think a lot of people sit on the edge and wait for closure, and you said it well.  Happy New Year.

Couldn't have said it better myself . . .
and I know that hollow place, inviting in its gravity, like a black hole . . .
Well done, Sir.

i've been there! really touching!

turning mirrors upside down won't make dust fall off the ground, hiding wounds won't ease the pain, sleep won't make you whole again...
