Dream Waves on waves of shining silk dark on dark in the dreamlight I feel her ephemeral warmth too soft ever to touch as she dances away again and I wake in blackness wanting to sleep forever. Something I wrote in (I think) 1964, and never finished. I almost always did rhyme back then, and took things to logical conclusions or hook endings. I ran across this the other day and realized it was complete after all. Odd, how grown-up eyes see things so differently. |

Seems that was a very good year, James... very good, indeed. |

and I wake in blackness wanting to sleep forever. I know this well... just lacked the words to say it so beautifully. I'm glad you found this treasure... like the gold it is, years only lend it soft shine. *S* |

The Muse is without age. The poet is a lens which changes with life through time. This poem is a wonderful statement and you are correct that it is very much complete as it is. Thank you for sharing it. |

This poem is the first instance I could find in which I expressed a recurring dream, that haunted me for all but the first few years of my life -- and still does. |

James, how I wish I wrote poetry back then. So much to have expressed when I was younger. Happy New Year M |

A beautiful whisper of words...delicate and smooth in flow, words that I know. And yes, grown up eyes do see things so differently. I started writing when I was 13 or so, and just yesterday, I wished I could remember how it felt just to let the words flow, unworried about the finish line. Now you look to see, 40 years later...all was complete. Gosh, I love everything about this. As you can see by rambling...I don't want to go. So, I am keeping this in my library, if you don't mind...
