The crunch of ice beneath the boot the snuggled feel of fleece on foot, crisp winds blowing snowflakes upon my reddened cheeks. I miss the great outdoors today. Listening to the morning traffic snarling in Denver (or on any city street) never suits my mood or heartbeat. The sky turns from ebony over cobalt blue to pale anemic whitish blue hue as I gaze out the windows wondering What the heck am I doing here? I do not belong to the city. Nothing less than mountains by the sea will ever hold onto the heart of me. So with that thought in mind, I continue to make my plans to escape. The Rockies are beautiful, and nothing will ever take that thought from my mind. But the city is a maze of concrete and steel, honking horns and too many wheels. So it’s almost time to bid adieu to you again, to wind my way down a different pathway. If all my New Year’s resolutions and dreams come true, by late Spring, you shall find me ‘neath another mountain, hugging the sea |

May I join you? Had to smile when I read this...I was couch bound yesterday with the flu and HBO was re-running "Nell" ... she went inside herself when they took her from her mountain home on the lake. have you seen that movie? The scenery is awesome...filmed in the Smokey Mountains/North Carolina. I relate to this so well Kac...I've been kept from the tides for too long now...there is a part of me missing. Heres to resolutions!! |

Yes, I saw that movie three times, it's outstanding! Thanks for reading, JM. I hope that bug leaves you soon, and that you find your way to the sea this coming year. |

Yanno, if you get close enough to the sea, an old scalawag might shanghai ya, and then where would you be? The Captain's Quarters, that's where! Good luck on fleeing the stone and steel, Kacy. |

Kacy, I love the beach and the Gulf Of Mexico that we have here, so I'm sure I would love your sea, too. Whe you get back there, can I visit sometimes? Hugs, Ethel |
