A restless spirit rises
within the morning mist,
memories crashing upon the waiting shore,
tearing up the once-firm foundations
of the edge of my world.

Nevermore.

Nevermore to caress the face,
wet the lips in wait of you,
kick the sand joyfully
in anticipation.

You won’t be coming back.

What was it we talked about for hours on end?
What were we laughing about
that last day that made me smile
even as you sailed away waving a
"See ya."

Nevermore was not even
in my vocabulary,
until today.

I could feel the somber undertones to this fine piece. Nice work!

Love,
Bonnie

Dear Kacy, this is very well done! A simple "see ya" can open to the abyss!
