I guess it is the season, That tends to make me blue. With everybody laughing, And things a brighter hue. It's family, friends, and frolic, And lights in every home... But I think of our fighting men, In foxholes all alone. It takes me back a lifetime, To a time in uniform- While I still had illusions, Before most of you were born. A time of war protesters, And the pics of "Commie Jane"... They tell me we survived it, But our country's not the same. Perhaps I am a cynic... At least that's what I'm told. Or maybe disillusioned... Or, maybe, growing old. But Christmas brings back yesterdays When memories are made. I hope that you'll forgive me, If I rain on your parade. |

Excellent - I wrote a short, wild kind of piece about a brother who died in Vietnam I would like to share with you sometime. Merry Christmas |
