Reminiscing on Paths while Speaking to Konrad Early dawn risings, golden sunset afternoons, I cannot think of a more pleasurable way to interrupt the practice of sleeping while the slide, slip, roll of a ship in motion, assisted drifting thoughts in quiet breezes, in looking back on all that had unfolded. Contemplating pasts while examining futures. Usually, it’s the other way around, and I know this, but I have been here before, in some way, in some life, and it took a friend with a key, to let me in, again. ![]() Are you there? Do you want me here? Yes. You knew what I would walk in to, what I would see. You were very quiet, but asked good questions. Questions were easy enough. A simple desire to know, that is sometimes difficult for others to comprehend, and the past yields both mystery, and answers. Indeed. ![]() I felt as if I had been in the palace, before. Faces, so familiar. Familiar faces come easy to dreamers, and poets. Just as chords, and rhythm, come easy to musicians, and brushstrokes with colored tint, to artists. How do we do it, Konrad? Write? I asked myself that question. Never demanded answers, for had there been a satisfactory response, Jake would never understand, neither Iambe, really, though she would try; but Dillon, yes, Dillon would understand, just as you know a few, who understand. Yes, I do. But, how do we do it? To step into another’s step, another’s life, how do we comprehend a feeling another might grasp, to feel the pierce of pen to heart, and gasp with understanding, then swell with tear? ![]() Look over your memories again. What artist cared for his own life so long as he could truly relive history, even as wounds scabbed, while bloodlines merged. Look again, their misery engrained in the mystique of the conquerors – while it is the ones who were conquered in which we are most interested… what musician did not drip the soul of a dancer, to give them a beat by which to stamp their feet into the dirt, begging life? What poet did not cry, in all that they felt unable to express? Come again, I beg a moment, to gardens that were, and are, Come settle your thoughts, know prizes of this land, for they be reasons that all things were bound together, and those riches were not all of gold but green, and growing, and still living, today. ![]() I settled momentarily into a memory of quiet air, broken only by singing birds unknown to me, the quiet scamper of gecko feet kicking across screens, while luncheon smells being prepared a small distance away rumbled another sound of my own. Knowing Konrad, while not there, was very close by. Then another silent memory of what had earlier caught my soul, a face of the dead in the dead, seeming to breathe, seeming to cry, seemingly, to live, showed itself again in my thoughts, ![]() and I continued to hear the promise of more to find on the River Wallace, come the new day. But not before sunrise would greet me. ~*~ To be continued. *Gardens of Xcanatun & Face in Tree photos, courtesy of our wonderful friends, Jack & MaryLu Divilbiss [This message has been edited by Sunshine (12-16-2003 07:21 PM).] |

Sunny One, I have greatly enjoyed your Konrad stories thus far, as they speak of what is, was and will be as we slide up and down this mortal coil. And I do look forward to more. |

This is tremendously evocative to my senses. I'm going to take a look to see if I can find the continuation. Be well -- it already sounds like you're well! |

but I have been here before, in some way, in some life, and it took a friend with a key, to let me in, again. =============================== that verse encompasses it all...it captures so much of your writing, of your many muses...and how you are so in tune with them. There will be many doors before you... you will need only one key... and you already possess it..... pen in hand... what once was ... will be again ![]() ![]() |

Thank you for this...a time to slow down and savor your words. I can't wait until I have some more time to read and write. Winter break starts Friday at 2:30 p.m. I will be here with you then, my friend. I love this story. Patricia |

Have a great day, and BTW, thanks for humoring with your minute rhyme! Sade |
