the cars are still moving right through this haven of broken-down days the wind is still speaking of you with its stories to tell. tragedy won't find me now i'll recall your face somehow and leave it where i left it long ago your windows will slowly corrode and lose light from the coals i took ages to rage the kerosine you lent me to burn up the sky lasted a day or so. the streaks on the mirror, this bottle of snow, people we pass on the street. we meet up every morning to smile exchange hurt for awhile. this year will pass us by forgetting who, forgetting why we'll leave it where we left it long ago the ways we touched this place will be lost in the pieces we dropped here a pillow, some lyrics, this internal frost, i'll have a lonely new year. your words fitting mine so tight my dreams dismantling the night, and every rehabilitation of ourselves. i stand on faulty limbs try not to make you my crutch again i'll leave you where i left you long ago joy has its own justice. and dreams are languid and lawless. and everything bows to beauty, when it's fierce and when it's flawless... |
