Prepare the Way
(sermon title for 12/7/03 by Dr. Paul Pryor
the following was inspired by the message shared)

deck the halls
adorn the hills
dress the streets
in joyous finery

isn’t that the way
to prepare for a king
don all the aisles
practice what we’ll sing

coat a path
herald with angels’ voices
wrap beauteous blessings
make your final choices

yet watch the silhouettes
created by the light
from where is its source
is their comfort in the sight?

what is reflected by the shadows
what dawns upon the heart
what’s at the end of the lane
what light was at the start?

before the beginning of time
a decision was made
He would dress Himself in flesh
for the price to be paid

He came as a babe
in a rough-hewn outdoor stall
where ox and ass were sleeping
the New Lamb made the call

what will your answer be
as glad tidings come your way
what will show in your response
as you court the Son of Man today?

will you unwrap the gift
packaged perfectly for you
will you receive it with your whole heart
that He may completely receive you?

I really liked your writing. There was kind of a rhythm of anticipation along with the words -- really good!
