Out Making Anticlines

When the road grows long
and you must carry sorrow
down it to the end,
when you are alone
and darkness beckons
with a false hope of rest;
when you must bear all
and your heart tells you
that the world's gone void
and life become the choice
of fools, then know,
know that one at least
is with you, take comfort
from that presence within,
the one you know and trust
and let the warmth
that flows from it
surround you, break the cold,
press back the yawning night.
You know that presence,
know the source,
and know that you
are not alone.

For a friend who will make a journey of sorrow today, and return in emptiness. Know my heart goes with you in this, and would carry part of that weight if it were possible.

Some jouneys must be made alone, but at journey's end it can be good to have a friend.

A very sensitive write; thank you for sharing it.

Share this poem with your friend, it will lift his/her spirits and bring a smile knowing that someone cares and fells their pain.
Good one.

There's an old expression that a friend in need is a friend indeed... and nothing could be truer... for I think perhaps our natural inclination is to protect ourselves from pain... not wade in and absorb another's to make their burdens easier. In the darkness of greatest sorrow, some step up to shine a way... and choose to walk beside the one raining tears to banish the echo of "alone" in an aching heart.
Such friends are priceless treasures... and their kindness is never forgotten.
The beauty of this reaches beyond the words on the page... for it reflects a beautiful caring heart.

What a beautiful, caring heart you have~

'know that one at least
is with you, take comfort
from that presence within,
the one you know and trust
and let the warmth
that flows from it
surround you, break the cold,
press back the yawning night
You know that presence,
know the source,
and know that you
are not alone.'

The lines above are about as touching as I'll ever read~

A talented pen and a beautiful heart are a powerful combination, my friend. This one grows only more special with time. *S*
