a simple black bag

spinning out of time
  running in place
how the earth does
take it's toll with
the role
  and the punches
create your own
devices of
happiness and swear
to the gods that
nothing has ever been as
bad
   or as good as this one moment
in time
and fall
where the lilies wept
at the sound of a shadow
crossing a line
    the lines we drew
in the sand around two names
where i love you
was a tattoo
of black and gold stripes
and the moon
    how it laughed
pressingclose to each breath
gave flight to the belief
in hope
and
they shook loose the stars
  till the glow in the sky
came from their hearts
but tonight
   like the stars
in a black duffle bag
sits a head holding thoughts
            that tomorrow
will stay the same
    or worse
fall prey to change
   but one things for sure
in the shadow that falls
is no quiet understanding
of the love you once found
       in a simple
black bag
