where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2003-11-19 06:57 PM

The smoke does rise,
above the eastern peir
as folded sailboats meet the land.

Not one foot stepped lightly
upon the shore,
not one treading horse
was wild in shedding grace.

And still,
a soft horizon was met
with blown away kisses
that never got
to their reciever.

The sun does burn them all away..

So
we
may forget
the words
we meant not to speak,
but are spoken through time..
perpetually.

Our fingers may never caress in haste,
in judgement,
must you be a traitor to my words..

I've
moaned
through
the eyes
of midnight
and
sung
in tune with
nocturnal birds..

and still,
these boats do not hault in their folly..
My beastly forewarning
of a
tortured
storm
that holds nothing
but
the wrong answers
to the right questions.

So this is what it's like
to collapse in the arms
of
desolation...

I will forget ye not.
