Learning To Love Myself Was it the mental abuse Being put down for years Forever doubting myself Smiles had hidden tears Whilst confidence is low I was always feeling less What became important Was my need to express Building my self-esteem I looked upon with insight I had never let hurt show Not until I began to write Believing that I'm worthy This line I so often recite Finding the gift of poetry Emotions began to write Confidence gets a boost So I write whenever I can I will learn to love myself Well that must be my plan Hope©2003 |

It is so easy to loose your self worth, when all you have heard is criticism. I am trying to live by my own words. I need to move on and realize I have something to give to one who wants it. I guess we need to have faith and good will come. |

This is one of life's really tough lessons. Each of us has to set the baseline for love from others by how much we love ourselves. If you can love (accept) yourself without condition you can offer love without condition and then may find love from others. Yes, a tough thing but once learned not forgotten. Thank you for this. |
