in the shadows

I've shared my thoughts
and feelings,
openly;
I've found this site
to be a gift,
for this I'm told to get a life,
that my sentiment's bereft of value here;
well I've lived with strife,
and suffered fools,
enough in sixty years;
if I write my tears
in print
I'll do it just for me.
So pass on
if you should see my name
and don't like my poetry.

Well now, dear Icebox, you have two by the name of Helen saying to hell with them and they - what do they know anyway?  Of course we write for ourselves for that way we give meaning to thoughts and feelings and maybe, if insightful enough, we make others think.  You make me think as you share with us your experiences of life and living and I always, always, read you even if I don't always comment.  How many times and how many ways can one say "brilliant"??   Keep writing, my friend - there's a lot you still have to say.

O.K. Your 13 years wiser then me. I bet I can give you more woe that would only scratch your surface. That is what makes this site my family. WELCOME...

(sigh) Yes, for those who actually deliberately thrash at your poems, so be it and forget them, but know that you are loved here, as I myself have went through much misfortune and still struggle to find an audience but write for myself as a first priority and that's all that matters! (big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, you have my utmost respect and friendship, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

PS...it's sad that someone has to feel like this or write it, especially here...

I, for one, have always been open and honest and never feared being judged or criticized for my life or my poetry.

In all my years here, I think this is one of the most heart-breaking pieces of work I've had the pleasure to read.

If you choose to reply to such critics, you could tell 'em to go suck an egg.
Or, politely say thank you and let it go at that.  They will probably be left too flustered to respond.
Your presence is welcome on my screen, by the way.

I thought this poem was Excellent and very Creative. I have been a member of many different poetry sites in my life, many, even the vast badlands of the aol poetry boards where people get downright mean sometimes, I have learned to accept and appreciate good critique when I get it and to simply ignore it when it is childish or simply wrong. Its something I have seen or every board I've ever been a part of...simply ignore the wrong or childish critique, its not worth wasting a minute of thought on.

I must have missed something as well. But for the record and speaking purely my own opinion.  You write inspired words.  And I truly hope you will continue to share and light the path for us.

believe in what your heart feels...
