Moved from a shack to a barn

0 posted 2003-11-15 01:03 AM

Lately, she comes over me
not much more than random feelings
but each, accompanied by an image

Stepping from her claw-foot tub
shrouded by wisps of steam
and glistening
lit by a single candle

Warming her hands by the burn-barrel
the flicker, illuminating her pout
and the greasy thumbprint
above her eyebrow

Her, huddled by the hearth
in that damned old ranch house
rounding out the geometry
of a Navajo blanket

And now, I realize
that I had never seen her
in a harsh light

For some
special people
there is no harsh light;
they are pure with the light that is.

Awww wranx, you are both so lovely in the light of love.

What a guy, and such a lucky lady,
she deserves every word you write~

wranx, I have been out of the loop a bit long to know off the top of my head who this masquerading is, but it is an incredible write none the less.

another vibrant image wranx style
(I read more wranx than Cap'n)

I especially enjoyed:
"rounding out the geometry
of a Navajo blanket"
superb, Ed

And now, I realize
that I had never seen her
in a harsh light
or been blinded by the quiet beauty
as she rose on mornings greyer
than windswept hills, half lit
by moon and wishes.

I reached for her last night.
Past the turn of wheels and faults
but found only the smokey smell
left in my nostrils as I woke
remembering again
random touches on skin browned by sun
and the smell of pine smoke

pungency rough scratched on memory

leaving only initials
that spelled
M.T.
