It lay at the end of Clark’s road A tiny square in the expanse of grass That held the stones of a few families And was kept mowed by old man Johns In large part because his mother was there As was marked on the limestone square That held her name and the dates Of her stay on earth. I knew where it was And how to get there Cause Iambe had taken me there And laid flowers on a stone That had long ago lost any letters To the rain and snow. “Someone should care.” She had explained. “I found it one day I was feeling bad, and figured like whomever was in the grave maybe I’d never have anyone to remember me when my time comes.” So, every so often she would gather up Some wild flowers and take them out there Place them on the stone and clean up around it. I knew where it was The fresh turned earth stood out Against the late autumn green Spurred to a final rebirth by late season rains And warm days. I placed my handful of flowers And left a note Pinned down with a rough edged stone That came from someplace deeper And had been turned up As other things were buried “I remember.” Written on plain lined paper That would fade [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (09-25-2003 09:51 AM).] |

This means alot to me. Thank you. I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man. |

(big hugggssssss) And as the rain patters down on the pale white parchment, it can be read in invisible ink..."...and I believe you still do too!" (sad sigh) This is powerfully gripping, sweet friend, the memory is but always a still-frame, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

I really liked the form of this piece. Even though some parts were free, other's had a bit of structure. (don't know if that was intended) Not only does it take skill to write, but requires some poetic skill on the reader's part. Something I really think is cool. (I think that good art has to challenge, to a degree, the person interpreting it) |

What you have done with this Iambe series is nothing short of amazing. And that fact that so many DO care is a testimony to your writing ability. My hat is off to you Cap. And I wait for the next spin... |

/pip/Forum82/HTML/000294.html When I read the first one...I had a moth feeling...but you wrote it so subtle that I held out hope in the vague references..and I could tell by most of the replies no one else quite realized either, then this one came up...... I have to tell ya...part of me wants to ignore this..as if not replying could make it go away. As I told you before...I understand the need to lay a muse to rest and I know you like things wrapped up neat...no loose ends.... but I will be honest, I am surprised at the way you did this...vague, no details, with little or no emotional fanfare... you always wrote of her with so much intensity and chemistry and I guess I thought (or maybe hoped) if you ever made it this final that it would be with the same energy...but I guess that just goes to prove it was past time for you to lay the muse to rest. Sen said it best...your wrote her so well that we all craved her...and just look at the spin offs from this series... look how many of us were inspired by your Iambe stories, creating a family and supporting cast. Well, its your muse..you can lay her quietly to rest and we will respect that..but you had to know I wasnt gonna be so quiet. And ya also know Im gonna nag ya till you find a new muse to amuse the moth LOL And so my point in all this moth ranting? I just wanted to say thank you for all the times this series inspired me to write of Jake, and other poems as well. "Iambe" ...youre one hell of muse. Ron..youre one hell of a poet. "If you feel heartbreak, distant thunder, lightning, earthquakes ... If you wonder why the earth moves ... this is me missing you." Lambe inspires so much...stands to reason that she would, since she's become a part of us. The continuing series is like a fifth dimension....who would have ever thought! Ya know I love your writing...doncha? Cpat~ Ron |

this is like one of those books you start reading...and by the end you're praying that the book is neverending. You find yourself going back to read it again and again. Love this...hate it (that it's ending)...but love it :-p "Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare." -Japanese Proverb |
