Finding Beauty

Whatever is begun in love
is beautiful already,
and what beauty starts
is likely to be loved.
There is no strength in this,
no accomplishment in finding
what is good, desirable
and there for all to see.

You have another gift to give,
more real, close to magic;
to look at a barren branch
and see the flowers,
then search the fading flowers
until you find their fruit.
Buried deep in every discard
there is worth, beauty to find
for those with eyes to see it
and a will to bring it forth.

Finding, you share, and sharing,
make it seem easy, obvious:
Of course a life rejected
would create a gentle spirit,
and how could a naked waste
fail to become a garden?
In your eyes, in your hands,
how could rejection fail
to turn to love?

You shame me. How can I, a poet
miss these quintessential things?
How can I, eyes perfect,
be yet blind to clarity,
focus on the map, the road,
and fail to perceive the journey?
Teach me this, to find the beauty,
help me find the joy and love
where all seems bleakest

Learning such a thing would be
itself a beauty,
and finding beauty is your gift;
I would ask it of you.
Search me, find that beauty within me.
If it is there, you’ll find it,
and if it can be shared,
I know you will.

Absolutely breath taking, and so full of the beauty that lives within us all.

You are a true poet in every sense of the word, James_A.

Vivid images woven with such tenderness... I certainly found beauty when I opened this treasure. *S* Thank you for sharing it with us... It's superb!

These words already show the beauty within you James. Very nicely done. Chris

This is a very very cool write....
one I wish I had wrote...and thats a poets poet compliment.
Very lovely, well done poet sir.

Jamie...There is beauty in everything, and it comes from the eye of the beholder.  You are beautiful!
