the ass-end of space

incapsulated orbit
universe unfolds
before eyes agape
the glitter of stars
against a velvet
backdrop black
slow drift
into the cold
and empty vacuum
creation's seven
comfort not
the horror
of the seven
it takes to die

In the name of science
In the name of the Race

***It would seem that in recent years discoveries have been made that make my 'seven' lines pointless. However this was written long ago with the intitial belief that Laika died after 7 days.
Here's a brief history along with new details about the fate of this beautiful dog***

Dear Raffaele, what a sensitive write. I read the story and it is so sad. Your words made me feel the anxiety and stress Laika had to endure ... ALONE!

In the name of progress many lives have been sacrificed. But still, space research is part of men's natural evolution.

Grazie Raffaele, per questa bellissima poesia in onore di Laika.
Abbracci. Margherita
