Ash On The Mountain

tiny ashes raining down,
returning to the world now
after the fate that took them up,
made them something more,
let them bloom in beauty
if only for a while

reduced now to a dry mist
they settle on the mountainside
so thin, so small, helpless
compared to the weight of it
and the weight of life,
the beauty that they carried
if only for a while

new life will grow here,
a mother’s angel child dance
along these paths unknowing
that the flowers careless in her hand
sprang from the ash of other flowers
carried to another mother,
and they brought her joy
if only for a while

Can beauty be found
in a heartache?
When delivered this tenderly,
yes.

I knew as soon as I saw the title...

bittersweetly beautiful...the poem...and your reasons of inspire.

Very sweet Ed.

Martie...

You're the color of the sky reflected in each store-front window pane ...
You're the whispering and the sighing of my tires in the rain.

Ed, this is serenity incarnate.  You have done well to transform tragedy into inspire...  not easy when a smokey haze surrounds every street outside right now...

so many interpretations from this write, which is splendid, beautiful,
as are the ashes that lay themselves down much as the phoenix, promising a rebirth
