Can’t Wait To Get Home Gray-blue water, wavelets lapping the leaf covered shore, sound of geese in the wind, chill in the air, fall – I’m here. . . where are you. Where’s the laughter that brushed my ears, where are the eyes that changed with the color of the sky, where’s the hand that held mine. Tall spires of the city across the lake, unreality in reality, the sounds of it’s existence ruining the park’s tranquillity, harsh on ears that only want to hear the rustling of you. Footsteps taking me back to my car, back to concrete and asphalt, to a room with a bed and a bath, slamming doors, sounds through the walls. Can’t wait to get home, to feel your lips touch mine, the warmth of your hug, to hear you in the kitchen, to watch you sitting across the room, to hear you laugh at something on tv, to feel your eyes meet mine. Can’t wait – to get home. w.james beard, jr. (c) october 2003 |

harsh on ears that only want to hear the rustling of you. I liked this very much... home is indeed where the heart is... and the longing to be there is a constant one. *S* |
