Flashing Fire You are a gentle soul; you have lived in every generation You lived in theOld WildWest The plain young woman, a school marm of young and old In her dreams of the sheltering night, a high steppin' beauty at The Gold Nugget Saloon. You are a gentle soul; you have lived in every generation You lived in the early nineteen hundreds A quiet young man a bookkeeper, working over figures both day and night In his dreams of the sheltering night, an inventor of new ideas The light bulb, the radio, the fantastic flying space machine. You are a gentle soul; you have lived in every generation You lived in the year of nineteen sixty, extending into the year of two thousandand thirty five You are quiet and reflective, a scholar, a real bookworm they say In your dreams of the sheltering night, you are an astronaut flying to the moon, a scientist or in your wildest dreams, a handsome Don Juan dancing with a beauty held within your loving embrace. You are a gentle soul; you are living in this generation You are a writer of dreams and of fantasy A writer of pain, sorrow, love, hate, uncontrolled desire and hope for all of mankind You are a writer You are a poet Like a flashing fire the words are flowing from your fingertips and from your imaginative mind You are a gentle soul; you have lived in every generation.
