Father and Son Days
By Paul Wilson

Inquisitive and shy… that was you
Like most boys, wanting to see what made things work
You came into my life when I was twenty two
A gift from Heaven with a cute little smirk

I tried to be a father but didn’t have a clue
This would be a learning experience for both of us
No instructions in fatherhood came with you
Together we learned to love and trust

I watched you grow up so fast
Even though I wasn’t around all that much
If only time had more slowly passed
Letting us share father and son things and such

I remember our first hunting trip
We sat together under that big Cedar tree
Watching that sly fox try and give us the slip
It felt so good… time shared between you and me

Weekends of you playing football and baseball
Me cheering for you like any parent would do
Praying you didn’t break any bones I recall
Re-living my boy hood dreams through you

A teenager with a mind of your own
Dating and party’s took up all your time
I remember when you started wearing cologne
I guess you snuck a little of mine

In the outdoors is where you love to be
Where you could hunt and fish each day
Yearning for a simple life in the country
Just being you… and living life your way

Now that you’ve grown into a man
With children of your own to raise
I reach out with pride and shake your hand
Thanking God for those father and son days

Dedicated To My oldest Son
Joshua

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Paul, this is soooooooo beautiful and heartwarming, sweet friend, this made me cry because though I'm not a father yet, it makes me think of my mom and dad and how they remember me and how I wish I could continue to bring back those precious memories to them somehow! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, may you and Joshua always continue to share special times together, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
