McDonald's Drive-Through I stared with hollow eyes through the rear view mirror at the couple in the car behind. Time stood still the torture as anger devoured my envy for this sickening, gloating couple, bleached blonde beauty at his side. Emptiness growled my stomach sorrow as I ordered four Big Mac’s a milkshake and a large order of fries though everyone knows how much I hate fries; But surely their warmth will coax my cold and the salt will bring me closer to heart failure since I'm almost there anyway. He kissed her, caressed her cheek and smiled and I've never felt more alone as I fought to hold back the tears ashamed of how hardy I laughed at the thought of putting my car into reverse to smash their moment to pieces. I bet he paints the sky with stars for her and shines the moon mauve at her command. I bet that she's a size two and can eat anything she wants. Maybe I should change my order to a salad? Too late. I need the comfort, the pseudo-quasi happy denial this survive one more day existence. So tonight as skin sheds itself I'll make love to the taste then force the food down the toilet and watch my insides swirl in shades of pain into a pool of nothingness with others before me who suffer the same. Ronald McDonald grins too damn much. Maybe he'll let me borrow his mask? By Melissa Long-Monette Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |

Hey! Have not seen you around in a while, but perhaps that is my blind eye...(kidding) Enjoyed this, and there are probably a few others around who would like to smack Ronald in the kisser a time or two...or stuff a Big Mac where the sun... well, you know.... |

Lets go to Mickey Dee's and order a hot fudge sundae. We can gloat at the little size two as she eats her PLAIN RICE CAKES. I promise I'll take out all the calories for you. Love Bon-Bon |

Melissa, this is a very well written poem, as all yours are. You are full of talent, Lady. I don't know if this is about yourself, or just your wonderful writing, but it touched my heart, either way. I really felt for the person who was eating to comfort herself. Very good writing, Melissa. Hugs to you Ethel |

Malissa I've made McDonalds into a happy meal for me, for it's a Wednesday adventure with my granddaughter and is about making memories. I understand the pain of this write, and wish you peace. |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Melissa, your poetry has been so sad as of late, sweet friend, I hope all is alright, and as happy, or perhaps narcissistic as Ronald McDonald can be, it surely isn't impossible to obtain his smile and I'mn sure soon you'll be getting more than McFlurry's and soft-serve! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, eat the food before it gets cold, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Melissa, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

"So tonight as skin sheds itself I'll make love to the taste" i think only you could have thought up those words to put together so unexpectedly...i just think it's wonderfully vague and true at the same time, kudos to you i think that it's brainless to assume that making changes to your window's view will gain a new perspective. |

"I bet he paints the sky with stars for her and shines the moon mauve at her command." Woahhhhhh! That is pure magic... angels music to my ears. Thank you for opening up and releasing such raw emotion. Keep letting your words overflow, like a luscious waterfall flowing freely from within... let unfiltered feelings release through the ink of your pen and try to not be concious of the technicalities and strict trappings of form and structure. Don't hold back from anything that stirrs your heart to speak... That girl was just a body you know... her soul may not even begin to comprehend the depths in which yours can dive. |

I feel the same when I see happy couples, I hate them for their happiness and wonder why I don't have it... You wrote this wonderfully and I enjoyed it very much. Susan "if you won't let me fall for you |
