There’s dinner alone, At a restaurant or home, Conversation, none. I hear them talking Couples holding hands walking I listen, Imagine Their words go on beyond me, Somewhere I don’t see. Benches disappear, Sitting places now fewer, Strollers rare In night air, That has slowly filled with stars, And streets lessen cars. The foyer echoes, Chiming when one comes and goes, Hatless rack Hang coat black Moistened by the twilight dew, Comfortable not new. Bottle and a glass, Finger of port as I pass Put up feet Taste the sweet Pick up a book read before 1984 But the reading lags As some new thoughts the mind snags, Thought then slips To sweet lips, Dreams in an empty wine glass That now slowly pass. Bed’s already made Except where the cat laid After he had played. Gloom |

beautifully written.... while reading I had to ponder, we always think the grass is greener on the other side and want what we don't have...then when we get it, are we appreciative...content with happiness beyond our wildest dreams, realizing we've been blessed? Yes, I am alone to...but not alone...and yes, I sometimes miss the closeness of someone, conversation, opinion....sharing...loving...but...next time I choose to be with a companion the rest of my life...I want to make certain...he is capable of being true to himself. He is confident and loves me for me....and is not just looking for the warmth under the sheets for a little while....cause I want to know him inside and out...what he wants feels, needs, and he is able to share his tears and fears as well. He doesn't wear a mask, but is who he portrays to be...not someone he thinks I want him to be. We are compatible in thinking, feeling and hobbies.... So...when I see two together, I'm happy for them, and their happiness glows around me....but...it makes me think...truly...about what I need, rather then what everyone else needs, for the first time in my life. And believe me, I enjoy being married, being with someone, a wife...but the next time, I'm making darn sure...he realizes he and I are one and takes responsibility for the hearts of others. |

"There’s dinner alone, At a restaurant or home, Conversation, none." Yep...me to...sometimes when it gets real bad...I beg to tag along with my friend and her husband... But alone is still better than what I had before... So Gloomy one?.... "if you won't let me fall for you |

You know this is something I've been contemplating for awhile now.I'm glad to see this and your point of view on it.No matter which side we're on theres pros and cons to every lifestyle. You lose some and you gain some no matter which way you turn. It's not an easy decision to make and one that requires alot of thought and weighing. You really touched me with this in a way you'll never know. Hello, may I address you as P.G. (Not to be confused with Parental Guidance)? Sorry, I just can't force myself to call you GLOOM--you make the world a BRIGHTer place just by sharing your thoughts.) I really liked the concept of "minds snags" and the "thought slips". What a nice gentle contrast. Enjoyed...Hey, I bet there are a slew of us that'd like to be sipping across from you! Sadelite |
