RL. When I read your poem The Wrong Words this came to mind and I thought I would share. Hope you like.

Still Friends

I open my eyes on this early morn
to the sound of rain kissing my windowpane.
A feeling of great sadness captures my heart
and
once again silent tears start to trickle down to the floor and melt into the fibers of yesterday.
This pain held within my heart is for the loss of your trusting, loving friendship.
After a few moments of wakefulness,
I open the patio door
to capture the essence and freshness
of
the pouring rain on this warm summer day.
Glancing down I see a single red rose,
wrapped in clear iridescent paper,
surrounded with glistening red ribbons.
Enclosed is a note written
with your friendly flare.
The warmth of those words bringing tears of joy
and
profound happiness.
Those two precious words that I have longed to hear-
“Still Friends.”
