It Just Is

I walk my path lighter today
the burden of you lifting,
easing through sleep, finally
a mind shutting down.

Even after the moments fled
I felt robbed of emotion,
recall only making me wish
to pull the shades down tighter.

You say / I say, does it really matter?
You took me where I didn't want to go,
where all reason is not understood,
where my breathing was paused
trying to keep up, feeling
unworthy once more.

There is a ghost in me
that walks a fine line,
yet dances me into tomorrows,
my messenger of love.
My world is not less without you,
nor more because of you,
it just is and will be
and will continue on as if
we never even met.
