Her body shivers As the bitter night air Makes the leaves and un-cut grass Dance around her like a prancing mare. She feels warmth surround her body When his coat is placed across her shoulders. He takes her hand in his While they walk along as the night gets colder. They stop for a moment And he pulls her in near. His arms hold her tight So not to lose her, as he fears. “You are my love, my one desire,” He whispers sweetly in her ear. Their lips meet and she closes her eyes As what rolls down her face, but a single diamond tear. She is not sad, but happy. Happy to have him as her own. Her life is now complete since His love for her he truly has shown. They stand in the bitter night air But they’re not the least bit cold. It’s not the objects around them But what keeps them warm is the love they hold. |
