Love's Maelstrom |

Love's Maelstrom The reverberating thunder of the incoming tidal flow washes over my being. It impacts against me with an intensity that is perceptible, and I am molested by the shock wave as if merely a buoy upon the brine. What care I about the permanence in which I am drowning? Let the cold brackish water whorl my thoughts into the vortex for I would be empty of mind. Open eyed I jump into that torrent and at once I feel the tug, which would yank me to the caliginous depths below. With ease I relinquish my inclinations as I am pulled downwards, and there is no fear as I open my mouth and draw in that which has claimed my being. There's a coolness that chills my lungs and sanguine fluids as I draw into myself a seaway of hurt, for I know I love her with all my heart, even though this night she takes my life. But I care enough to die for her. There was heretofore a time when within her eyes I could descry the resonate semblance of all that I felt. My days were occupied with sunbeams and laughter and each instant was beloved. Now when I look into those penetrating turquoise eyes all I see is the storm-tossed high seas and I know that the ocean is a glacial, unforgiving, courtesan. In Davy Jones locker she closets the memories of what we once meant to one another, and it is there that I will lie in my sodden sepulture. Like some sunken or fallen galleon out of ages past please abandon me to my lifeless vault. The only golden trinket you will find here is my everlasting fervor to be with her. Seek your coin of the realm elsewhere, for in this mundane existence there is only the frigid press of my lips to hers, a lover's last kiss, one final embrace, for love's maelstrom is my burying place. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

Kevin, you even write of the heartache of love, lovingly. I hope this isn't from personal experience. It hurt. Hugs Ethel |

Thank-you for the comments SharaRose and garysgirl. Sorry my poetry had not a happier theme today. (Wink!) Sometimes I draw too deeply from the well within. Next time I will post sopmething a little less dark. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

But Kevin, love is not always happy. You write of that side so well, is what I meant. I like that you can write about what is deep inside. That's what we all need to do. I have some things that happened to me in my past that I truly wish that I could write about. I think it would help. So, keep writing. Hugs Ethel |

May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

Oh, I do like the depths of this one your words flow smoothly over the rough rocks of storm-tossed love. Very very effective imagery. Evocative, for sure. |

Great poem, I must say. True love, if it is meant to last, will endure through all travails, disputes and such because both of you love each other so much that you're willing to make it work. I know that because my parents, who've been married for twenty-four years, still love each other. |

Thank-you everyone for the comments on this piece. I was very surprised to get home from work and find it at the top of the list. I actually came on to check out the comments on my newest piece The House on Cleveland Street. Finding this poem still being read though made me smile. Thank you so very much my friends. Rest assure though this is an old story and all is well here. Love each of you dearly. Kevin! Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

Hi, EV No surprise -- top of the list is where this belongs. Hope it stays there for a while. |
