The Beginning Of the Drink This is the end of me This is the beginning of the drink The fluid substitution Of the love (or lust) that was lost Kind Sir, Please - pour me my cure In the kindest (most generous) Way you can Make me want more tonight than yesterday I'll light my unnatural obsession And drag my life away Here comes my mean-spirited song The chorus that I crave If only I could get it A loser to for my poetic bed Here comes my victim now A screw is the only way And now the beginning - of my new life Do you all hear the trumpets roar? They call for me And my new stud Again ... once more This time - I swear it! It will be forever! Shall we all have a toast? I have only my genius to declare! Very intriguing, indeed. I think I understand what the subject is about, but I am not sure...please, tell me what you mean. |

We all have our battles that wage within us, don't we? |

I wrote this poem several years ago when I was single, drinking Long Island Ice teas, smoking. I was the biggest cynic to ever reside in Pasadena, California. I was working as a bill collector and my soul was quite ill. This is more about fustration than anything else. I have only my genius to declare! |

Yes, the frustration of the self definitely shows in your words. All within the self is better as of now, I take it? If so, good for you. I enjoyed reading this. |

From a poetical point of view I think this is a stunning write. Words we might say when there is heavy darkness deep within. It is so very cynical that I'd like to "shake you", saying that it is time to stop this disappointing circle .... I hope you do believe now, that there actually are relationships based on true love that can last a lifetime.... and the drink is never the solution anyway. Love and hugs, Margherita |

Indeed, this is stunning.. My opinions are hardly ever long and drawling.. I will say, though, that I enjoyed it. Want to see more. |

"Of the love or the lust that was lost." This seems to be thoughts from the past, and I'm thankful for that. I often wonder if my feelings are of love or lust...or both. I suppose without lust there would be no furthering of the human race...and isn't it wonderful sometimes. I have never know what its like to go to the bottle to run from problems, if I am interpreting this right. I do drink for social occasions but I like to face up to my problems as soon as humanly possible, I do love cognac. Had a girlfriend one time that used alcohol and drugs to ease her pain, she found that the pain was always still there in the morning. I never want another girlfriend like her, I mean addicted. I think my weakness is women...sometimes they really get to me. So I go to the women. I'm reading an interesting History book right now called "Goring". He was second in command in WW2 Germany and he would escape from his problems with drugs, and hunting trips and later he started trying to acquire all the classical paintings in Europe. Meanwhile he was failing miserably as a leader...James James |

'the end of me and the beginning of the drink'--a lot of people could truly say that, but don't know it. I like this one. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

This is the end of me This is the beginning of the drink As if you are a different person when you drink... |
