The River Threw Me

how can you
not understand
this pain I feel
does rain only fall
to shallow water
then where do
rivers come from

Deep water
thrives
though it
by collects
all the rain

all that didn't
penetrate
when it fell
in
shallow places

but

though it thrives
turns salt tears
to beauty

somehow
it can't
free
itself of
the burden
