this is something i wrote, to express my love of hiphop, which has opened my eyes to a whole new world, including poetry, and hopefully can open many others to more and more ways of expressing themselves ------------------------------------------------ what the 4 elements really mean to me is something thats hard to express lyrically ive been learning hiphop for the last 10 years its always helped me grow and nursed me thru the tears i couldnt imagine my life without its influence its helped my intelligence grow to an affluence it encourages me to be less judgemental creatively, it lets me be experimental those who have never tasted pure hiphop sit alone in their sadness, never lettin rhymes drop stewin in their emotions, never expressin themselves but ive tasted the freedom, into my mind i delve but it aint jus bout writin rhymes from in ya head its also about art, respect, street cred graffiti for so long now has been a taboo a crime for u to commit, have the law chasin you nowadays ppl pay for graff to grace their walls no longer is it illegal, if its in museum halls and so many times i hear, 'vinyls dead and gone' but not in hiphop, its beauty lives on the raw, undigitalised method of music analog beats r the way i choose it to some ppl the scratchin is irritating they just dont know, to me its elevating manipulation of beat, mastery of sound no longer does a record, jus spin around back and forth is the way i like to hear as a musical instrument, turntables have no peer and last but not least, we have breakdancin i love poppin and lockin, and b-boy stancin who woulda thout that a few years ago id have seen b-boys in perth, rippin up their flow graff goin up with a dj on the decks hiphop has made it, this quick i didnt expect i jus hope there are others who will make hiphop stay true to the elements which have propelled it to this day |

I'm sure hip hop is here to stay, and it should, as it speaks our current culture. I like the sound of your write. I hope you'll keep posting your writings which are likely to educate us! And isn't that what poetry is about...tell a story...find a common ground, and connections...Please keep sharing! |
