They ran and hid;
they ran and huddled.
A pursuit followed and
with a metaphor
and an alarming alliteration
I corralled them
into a questionable poetic forum
but alas
before I could get them
lasso’d onto paper
they slipped blithely
between the lines.

From the other side
they taunt
and scamper
through the flat lands
that possess the area
just before the trees take over.
Softly they call back
whispering that they
just might
be worth the effort
it would take
to go and get them.

But I let them leave,
and with a poet’s sigh,
close the gate
sealing them into obscurity.
There will be another day
when my fences
will be full of words
chomping at the bit
just waiting to be
written.

Yeppers... when you quit chasing them, the critters often sneak up and crawl into your lap. LOL

I enjoyed this very much! *S*

Because some dear friends are gone too long and should come home and *gift* us with words~

Hoping you will my dear lady~
