Boy Next Door

Perhaps you were just
the boy next door to me,
that familiar, that

kind

heck, Mom had a thing
for Martin Milner ~ as he was her
boy next door…

and that is how
you were to me.  Just there,
a friend,
someone who knew my
talk and walk and why
we were the way
we were…

why we wore what we wore,
and exited through the decades so rapidly
in our

quirky
silly
cute
kind
full of hope
and then some…
sort of
insane ways

I think I bought a dress once,
wondering if you would see me
in it, looking like Chrissy…
but more likely...
Janet...

I’m going to miss you
more than you know

because you would never
miss me…

for you never knew me.

But I, oh so fortunately, I…
knew you.

Thank you, John.
for all you were…
and for what you gave
to all of us.

Laughter.

Martie...you know how it is.  We don't realize how much a part of our life they were...and we are sorry we never even got to say...hello.

How right you are....and it applies so much to the people who are actually next door, or close enough to see without ever knowing.

Dunno how you do it.....

Yeah Karilea, there was just something really comforting about him. We all have an instinct that tells us whether or not, we trust or feel comfortable around someone. And with John Ritter it was just so easy to like the guy.

A really fine actor. And a helluva human being. And the kind of person, this world could use more of.

Thanks for all the laughs Dear Friend!

You’ll be missed.

Signed,

Excellent write Karilea...
and this holds true for all of us
to remember to say at least 'hello' to our neighbours and friends.
You just never know...
Should have been a hankie alert with this one..
The tears started when you talked about Chrissy and Janet....

He even looked and acted--and had the same first name as my boy-next-door friend (literally). I was so blessed.

Whenever I saw John Ritter perform, I felt like I had a personal connection to him because he reminded me so much of my John of my teen years.

A touching poem, filled with fond remembrances of "our" John.

Love & Eternal Light,
Linda

So sweet Sunshine.

I think we all knew a boy like that.

A very good read.
