~*African Child*~

My tummy hurts.
I rub it, but nothing works.
My mommy and daddy
where are they?
Why did they go away?
Mommy was sick, Daddy too.
My family left…there is so few.
I don’t know why
Please, please help me.
I don’t want to cry.
Will I have bread?
I hope so today.
That’s what someone said,
I hope it's true...I pray.
Will I grow up to be big, and strong?
Will I go to school?
But some say I may not be here too long.
Will I learn the Golden Rule?
Do you see me God?
Do you see me here?
Do you hear my hearts cries?
Do you see my fear?
Will you dry the tears in my eyes?
Dear God bring my mommy and daddy back
Then they can see me grow up to be me
They can help me in all this lack.
Then I will be free.
I want to feel
my mother's hands
And my fathers kiss
Bring them back to me
So they can see what they will miss.
~~*~~
Yes Dear Child I see your tears
I hear the cries of your heart
I will be there with you
all through the years
And when you grow up
You will bring others a smile
You will bring all your joy
through each and every mile.
But for now just play
Grow more, and more everyday.
And before you know it
you will be on your way!!!

* I wrote this last year after reading about the African childrens plight. This due in part because their parents Aids issues, but also because of gov't issues.*

The commercials on television showing the starving children in Africa, are so painful to see. The enlarged tummies from Beriberi, caused from malnutrition, break my heart. Whatever I have been able to do to help feed the children of this world, is but a drop in the proverbial bucket; however, if every able person were to do so, we could hopefully stamp out world hunger. ~ "United we stand. Divided we fall"...

A lovely poem, from a loving, caring poetess.

Thanks to all of you...

*Angelblueyes-- Thanks Crystal so much for this comment. Let's hope so. I only wish there was something i could do as one person to turn the tide for these people. So many reformations need to be made in the governing forces.

*QJQ--Thanks Q.. If you have faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains. Praying to reach that height some day.

*gringakiwi-- I cried when I read all your comments just now, because your words are worth more than all the billions it would take to heal these people's problems, and then I realize they are rich in having each other. A child doesn't know they are in poverty unless someone points it out to them.

to all of you,

Earth angel...bless ya bunches...so, so true. It's just that I wish I could have a more hands on affect in their lives..the same feeling I had when the 9/11 incident happened, and I felt isolated in that, because I couldn't get there, and hands on, be a part of helping with the aftermath. I would think if I could just bring the workers a drink of water with a smile would made me feel not so helpless. That incident affected me for a VERY long time after, and in part I think it's because I couldn't be there to help in the healing process. :'(

and all bunches,

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Shara, it saddens me so much to see the shortage of charity for the hungry and poor, dearest friend, all my life I have prayed and cried for the children of Africa and other poor countries in the world that they can get all they need to survive and finally we can begin to help ofer them the appropriate health care and lifestyles they deserve! (wipes tears) I only wish I could contribute more to them, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Shara, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Hello Noah... Thank you so much for the read, and comment. I have been going through this for a VERY long time about Africa. It's kind of burdening to the soul to see this kind of thing going on when really the governing forces, I believe, could do so much more. If not then reform. I think the reason for hands on is because LOVE.. if you really love something, or someone there's something inside that makes you want to serve them. Do something for them. But then love is an action word. You can *say* anything, but until you *do* something it feels like empty words.
Love,

And we get upset when the airconditioning
stops working,  when the gallon of milk is
gone,  when the TV goes off the air for 10
minutes.............ad infinitum......

It saddens me too...Particularly when so many
of us have so much and our children, many of
them....are spoiled and have no clue what
true poverty is....

Thanx for sharing this with us...
