Granddad sipped coffee from a saucer as he read the forecast, no rain, so the paper said. Both morning and evening he studied each word, He read both editions, but the Times he preferred. He looked for the scores of his favorite teams, the rankings changed daily, or so it seemed, But when she walked into the kitchen each day, He’d put down the scores and his paper to play. Just five years old, and his heart she had, her laughter brought joy to the ol’ Granddad. He opened his arms and got to his feet, “Well, good mornin’ glory, you ready to eat?” “There’s hotcakes, and eggs, and oatmeal, and ham, Grandma picked strawberries and made us some jam, there’s french toast or plain toast, all buttered up, and ice cold white milk poured in your special cup.” She’d sit in her chair and watched the old man while Grandma said grace and they all held hands, his face would contort and go every which way, the little girl giggled, how they loved to play. ~~--~~ Now, those times are over, the little girl’s grown, Such sweet days remembered as she sits all alone among the morning glories as they open their eyes, sharing memories of her Granddad with the sunrise. |

I can see the poems I've read thus far placed into a very special book. You have me wondering of your family, their travels, and life. Keep it up. You've got a fan. |

Thank you for your comments. I do have many wonderful memories of when I was growing up, a Norwegian grandmother and a grandfather that rode the rails, lots of tales to tell about those two for sure! I have more!!! Thank you all again, these writes are my favorites, they mean the most of all. ~ becky |

![]() (big hugggssssssss) God Bless You, dearest friend, this made me cry in joy as I love my grandparents sooooooo much too and I am blessed they are still alive and I can learn even more from them so when their time comes I could have many stories to pass on to my children they taught me and special memories of eating blackberry cobbler, going to Church and dancing at the Lil Ole Opry with them!
