(This new song I recently wrote is dedicated to our friend Kit McCallum, to have her know always her son will always love her and he will always be her little boy! God Bless You! )

Sons And Daughters
By: Noah Eaton
9/12/03

Ever since you can remember when they were born
Just a touch or gesture would make your heart soar
And as they grow they only love you more
Thumbing through photo albums of every year
Still-frames of carousel rides and picnics bring you to tears
Even when they’ve hopped the yellow bus you know they’re here

Sons will always be splashing in the puddles
Daughters will always be making daisy chains
Watching as they grow it can bring a lump to your throat
But they will always love you the same

So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
And rest assured with God that they’ll love you forever
Treasure your memories and blessings like Hallmark cards
So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
Remember those little finger-painted palms will be of your kids forever
Because their love will be imprinted in your heart no matter where they are…

Deep in him he’s still drawing with Crayolas in kindergarten
Deep in her she’s still chasing butterflies in the garden
And they’re hugging teddies in their beauty sleep
It’ll always be more than the flowers in her hair and barrettes
It’s more than his dirty fingers, puppy smiles and jet planes
Something more everlasting than ones prom bouquet

Sons will always be wearing their lucky mitts
Daughters will always be making arabesques and dancing ballet
Watching as they grow it can bring a lump to your throat
But they will always love you the same

So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
And rest assured with God that they’ll love you forever
Treasure your memories and blessings like Hallmark cards
So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
Remember those little finger-painted palms will be of your kids forever
Because their love will be imprinted in your heart no matter where they are…

In every moment his or her knees were scraped or feelings broken
You were their hero they always looked up to
And when the make-up mirror feels empty and the baby book is incomplete
They’ll always be your children that love you too…
Sons will always be digging through their toy box
Daughters will always throw tea parties and dance in the rain
Watching as they grow it can bring a lump to your throat
But they will always love you the same

So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
And rest assured with God that they’ll love you forever
Treasure your memories and blessings like Hallmark cards
So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
Remember those little finger-painted palms will be of your kids forever
Because their love will be imprinted in your heart no matter where they are
So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
And rest assured with God that they’ll love you forever
Treasure your memories and blessings like Hallmark cards
So mothers and fathers, hug your sons and daughters
Remember those little finger-painted palms will be of your kids forever
Because their love will be imprinted in your heart no matter where they are…

Ah Noah, your heart and spirit are shining here.  Kit will love this.  But I think any Mom or Dad will sneak a peek, and claim it for their own...

Beautiful sweet Noah!!
I love this and will think of my own children
and grandchildren each time I read it.
I know Kit will love it too.
Into my library it goes!

Noah, this is VERY nicely done. It makes me think of my own kids who are both growing up way too quickly, and way too often in front of me.
Great job.

And I do apologize for posting my own write here. It was a simple mistake of hitting the wrong button.

Thank you all so much for your beautiful comments!

And thank you, Ringo, for bringing the loss of Johnny Cash to our attention! I heard of his passing this morning and I still am weeping a bit now, but am blessed this man in black could live to say so much and for that I am grateful! At this moment, I am writing a tribute to the man himself, which I will have posted this evening. God Bless You Ringo, and God Bless You All!

Love,
Noah Eaton

As Sunshine commented, any parent could claim this for their own. Memories of my own two daughters flooded my mind and I am now feeling a wee bit weepy and nostaligic--but joyful at the same time!

Because you are still in touch with your own inner child, you were able to write with such tenderness and understanding.

Noah, this is absolutely beautiful - as a mother of children who have grown up and spread their wings, I have felt such pride and love for my three daughters, felt sadness at them moving away, proud when they brought their own babies to me to love, and I am in awe of how they have become such wonderful ladies. I sit sometimes and wonder how I got so lucky, and I thank God daily that he has blessed me so much in my life. Thank you for this, it has brought tears to my eyes, but it is such a blessing for all to read.

Awwwww, Noah this is just wonderful.

Thank you for such a beautiful write. I'm so glad I was able to inspire you to pen this. As Karilea and others have said ... this will touch the heart of all moms and dads ... and all sons and daughters.

You've captured a piece of everyone's childhood here, Noah, from barrettes to baseball mitts, the memories are ingrained in us all. It's wonderful to pull those memories out now and again ... and sometimes they just surface on their own when we least expect them.

I will pass this link along to my sister so she can read it. I know she'll appreciate it, as she was having such a hard time dealing with her oldest son moving out.

This was so thoughtful, and beautifully done. Thank you Noah!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Noah, this is absolutely wonderful and I know in my heart she's deeply touched by this.As a mother of three I find myself everyday looking at my children and saying where have the days gone. This touched my heart and soul and the pictures were so sweet.

They grow up way too fast. I wish I had all those years back and could start over and do them again so they'd still be around. Precious this write is and I'm saving it. for my boys, and you for such a loving write for all with sons, and daughters.
